Butterfly House Finale (2)
/There were still plenty of butterflies and moths to see in the last weeks of the season in the Roston Native Butterfly House at the Springfield Botanical Garden. I’ll miss the conversations with visitors and the quiet times with the butterflies. This year there were times when it was too busy to take pictures and other times when I decided I just wanted to watch the butterflies fluttering or the caterpillars eating. Now the house is closed, and I am savoring the pictures of the past few weeks.
The weather is saying warm and I have fall nectar plants in my yard, so I anticipate seeing butterflies around my house for a while longer. But we are on the glide path to winter and no butterflies. I often feel that the annual pause in seeing butterflies make their reappearance in the spring more precious.
