Lexi – the kitten
/My daughter and son-in-law have adopted a 5-month-old kitten which they have named Lexi (their other cat is named Audi).
The kitten was found by one of my son-in-law’s grad students when they were hiking in the woods near where they live. The young cat followed them home! Unfortunately, the apartment already had a couple of cats, and another was just too much. They isolated the kitten from the other cats in the bathroom (unsure of its health status) and began to make arrangements to get the young female to a vet for a checkup.
Now – a few weeks later, the kitten has been spayed and is in a room with two windows that my daughter has kitten-proofed. When the kitten first got there, she was wearing a cone because of her surgery and was on antibiotics for an infection. The cone came off after a few days and the antibiotic is done. The kitten seems to be very happy with her new place even though she is currently limited to the one room. Note that her coloring is not bilaterally symmetrical.
Soon they will introduce the other cat in the house and Lexi. Hopefully they will get along, and both have the run of the main floor of the house soon!
