Garden in Carrollton, Texas

Even in February – there are things to see in the garden around my parents’ house in Carrollton, Texas. The sunrises that are hidden in the summer show up through the tangle of tree limbs this time of year.

The oxalis blooms on warmer sunny days…the gentle mounds of green making the garden look ready for anything on other days.

A fern had a fiddlehead – unfurling a new frond in the winter.

The red yucca pods were mostly empty, but some still held their black seeds. Most of the plants have come up around parent plants through the roots. Some start from the seeds as well.

The bulbs are beginning to bloom.

The chunks of glass we found at a shop in Arkansas are visible among the delicate growth of Queen Anne’s Lace that will send up stalks to bloom in the warmer months.
