July 2013 Doodles

I took a vacation from doodling in June but am back this month with a few news ones and have initiated a totally new direction for doodling too!

I’m enjoying a collection of older doodles under the plastic cover on by breakfast area table. It’s great to see them again. After a couple of months I’ll use them as book marks and then they’ll go into the recycle bin.

The collection this month seems to be mostly curves. They are roughly in the order I created them. As you can see in the last two in the slide show - I’ve started doing color overlay designs.

And that brings me to my new direction which is to use fabric and thread…and my recently recovered and oiled sewing machine. I did my first experiment yesterday. Note that the color overlay from the later paper and pen doodles transitions well to this new medium. I'm excited about the fabric and thread experiments i will do in August!

May 2013 Doodles

It was a slow month for doodles….but I enjoyed producing them as always. I like the blue and black color combination the best this month.

Enjoy the collage!

April 2013 Doodles

Pink and black seemed to be my colors for April. There is only one in this set that has different colors! I’ll try to have more variety in May.

Enjoy the slide show.

March 2013 Doodles

Themes for March turned out to be circles and deset….in red and black mostly. I was surprised at how much doodling I had done during the month when I picked up the two piles (one upstairs and one downstairs) to photography. I picked the best 7 out of 36! Enjoy the slide show.

February 2013 Doodles

February was ‘pebble’ and ‘spirals’ month. Once I got started with those motifs - I just couldn’t stop. I also am working my way through the pack of 3x5 cards; there are a few left but I’ll move on to other types of paper or card stock in March. There are plenty of different kinds of papers in the ‘stuff’ in my house.

January 2013 Doodles

It was wonderful to be come home in early January after being away for almost 6 weeks. I found myself relaxing and enjoying the time indoors while the weather was cold - celebrating being at home. Doodles were a part of the return home too. I found myself drawn to old-fashioned pencils and colorful pens….and the flowers and clouds motifs were included in every doodle in January. I’ll have to pick something different for February.
